What to expect of the experience with Island Sound: inquiry to send-off.
You just got engaged, now what?

We highly recommend you check out our post “What You Need to Do Before Booking Your DJ” before continuing.

The Inquiry

First, give us a call 877-634-7725, send us an email staff@islandsoundlive.com, or DM us on social media @islandsounddjs - your choice!
Ultimately, we need your first and last name, email address, and good contact number, event date, venue, and, if possible, start/end times.

Once we receive these details, we’ll immediately send you our brochure with pricing via our platform, HoneyBook.
All communication- correspondence, booking, event details, etc. will take place here.

(Side note: If you’re a vendor or venue, HoneyBook is a great tool for scheduling, team communication, creative design, tracking leads, collaboration, and more. Use our referral code to start your trial today: http://share.honeybook.com/fQVS6 )

Next, just tell us which services you are interested in. We offer all-inclusive DJ/MC services, lighting, photo booth, videography, wedding planning, and even additional rentals, like karaoke or dance props.

The Proposal and Booking

After receiving your list of desired services, a team member, either myself or one of my office mates, will draft and send over what we in the biz call a proposal: a no-strings-attached invoice and contract, so you can see what to expect. The proposal is valid for 2 weeks; however, we are first come, first served, so your proposal may expire before then if you’re booking last-minute (month-of or less), or on a peak day.

Then, if everything looks good, you can actually complete booking via the proposal. Keep scrolling down and it will prompt for signature and payment. It’s that easy, really!

The Wedding Form

Immediately after booking, we’ll send you your wedding form to begin filling out details for the big day- including special dance songs, itinerary, songs you like, and even songs you don’t like!

The form is a "live" document: it saves as you go, and can be edited until are details are finalized and you click submit. It is due 30 days prior to your event date. If you still have a few things to decide- don’t worry! We can physically go in on our end and makes those changes.

DJ Assignment

You may be wondering, "Who is my DJ?" Unless you specifically request a particular DJ, assignment is typically done by our Office Manager, Rachel, or our Operations Manager, Mike.

They base assignment on several things- #1 being your form! That’s why it’s so important to have it filled and submitted by the deadline.

If you’re looking for something specific, we have DJs that specialize in certain things. For example: if half of your family is flying in from China and wants traditional Chinese songs and traditions, we have DJs that have experience with this!
DJ assignment is also based on location (geographically and venue- we’ll send someone familiar with your area and venue!) and availability (we require our DJs to submit time off requests 30 days prior).
No later than 30 days prior to your wedding date, the DJ assignment email is sent. At that time, you will be able to speak with the DJ in regards to details. Also, at that time, a Skype meeting or call can be set up with him, if needed, to discuss final details.

Wedding Prep

Then week-of, the office will be in touch with you, your planner, and venue contact to confirm all final details including timeline, any missing songs, and any changes, as well as day-of logistics. Following our calls, we’ll send a final packet to your DJ with all of the details.

Day-Of, Arrival to Send-Off

Finally, when the big day arrives, your DJ will be on site 2 hours prior to your scheduled start time, and will begin load-in and set up. If ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception are in different locations on-site, the DJ will set up at the reception location first. Then, he or she will remove a speaker, mics, etc. from the main set up and bring to the ceremony and cocktail hour. This transition is not abrupt and only takes a few minutes.
Once the DJ’s time starts, he or she will work in conjunction with your planner and venue to keep to the timeline so everything runs smoothly and to have a fun evening!

Post Event

Enjoy your honeymoon! We’ll send a post-event survey to you the following week. We love all feedback for improvement or to share praise with our team. Island Sound would love to celebrate with you again, whether it be a graduation party, corporate holiday event, or anything in-between!
